Glowing tributes to Ralston

Glowing tributes were paid at the awarding ceremony in honour of late
Ralston Tissera an outstanding planter, and a sportsman at the Darawella
Sports Club, amidst a number of leading planters in the hill country
participating, where the award of cash and a Premier Shield were awarded
by late Tissera's two brothers Vernon Tissera and Michael Tissera, a
veteran planter and a cricketer, respectively. Michael Tissera, had
captained the Sri Lankan team at one time.
This award will be an annual feature to be renewed years for the
Nuwara Eliya, Dimbula and Hatton and Maskeliya regions where the late
Ralston Tissera, had been a planter over a period of fifty years without
interruption.
The late Ralston Tissera, was an outstanding sportsman, a keen
golfer, a ruggerite and a cricketer. He held the post of President of
the Nuwara Eliya Golf Club, and Captain of the Golf Club, in addition
held honorary posts at the Dimbula and Darawella Sports Clubs.
The award was presented to Luxapana Group for the manufacture of
highest quality tea for the entire high grown western region.
In addition to the large gathering present the manager of Luxapana
Group Maskeliya N. Tissera too was present. |
