Any program aimed at uplifting the lives of 'Adhivasi' people should
be in keeping with the aspirations of these very people. Our own
expertise in this direction will never be successful, Cultural Affairs
Minister Piyasiri Wijenayake said.
The Minister made these remarks at a function at the Jana Uruma
Centre in Dambana last Monday.
These Adhivasi people at Dambana remain unchanged for a long time. We
must respect their culture and safeguard this generation for the
betterment of future Sri Lanka.
Archaeological findings in other countries have resulted in
excavations which have unearthed artifacts and other related items.
However, we, in Sri Lanka, have all these living beings as unique
examples. We must give due recognition to these living examples, the
Minister said.
