Undergrads attack group of local tourists

A group of local tourists attached to Coconut Development Board were attacked allegedly by a section of university undergraduates on Saturday.

This incident took place near Jayathilake Hall at the Peradeniya University premises while these people were partaking of their lunch.

It is also reported that the windscreen of three buses in which they travelled were also damaged in the clash allegedly sparked off over an argument between the two groups.

Dr. Asoka Dangolla in charge of discipline at the Peradeniya University said that disciplinary action was not possible since no one was specifically identified as being involved in the incident.

Peradeniya police are conducting investigations.
