Amana Takaful Insurance celebrates 10th anniversary
Amana Takaful Insurance, a leader in the Takaful way of insurance,
recently completed several projects in hospitals in the island to
coincide with ten years of operations.
Under this initiative several hospitals were provided with equipment
while others involved minor construction work. The hospitals involved in
this project were the hospitals in Karapitiya, Eravur, Puttalam and
Matale.
The dental unit of Karapitiya Hospital in Galle was in much need of a
Light Curing Unit to carry out certain operations.
The equipment was presented to Dr. Priyanee Senadheera, Director
Teaching Hospital, Karapitiya, Galle.
In Eravur, the Maternity Ward was in dire need of curtains and
separators to provide the required privacy for mothers during delivery.
In Puttalam, the lack of seating facility at the OPD section for
patients was rectified by providing several multiple-seaters for the
ward. In Matale, the children's playground adjacent to the Children's
Ward was in a dilapidated state and need much refurbishment work.
Funds and manpower was provided for the completion of the project so
that the children at the hospital could enjoy their stay.
Amana Takaful Insurance Director and CEO Ehsan Zaheed said, "We
decided to mark this special milestone as the country's pioneer in
Takaful operations and having achieved a billion rupees of GWP last
year, by serving the community with the funds that may have otherwise
been spent on celebrations.
"Many of our long standing customers of the past 10 years supported
this view as they felt it was very apt that we do such a service".
"We specially chose hospitals that were rural or in the outstations
as they are often have unmet needs compared to hospitals in Colombo
which have the attention of most donors and companies in their social
activities," said Amana Takaful Manager - Marketing Aashiq Aminuddin.
Children and health have always been something Amana Takaful has
focused on as key future investments of a country. In the past, several
small scale projects have been done in hospitals such as the Lady
Ridgeway children's Hospital.
Amana Takaful has 17 branches across the island offering General and
life Takaful services and also has a fully fledged operation in the
Maldives.
