Rajans wins 'Herman Loos' Cup

At the NCC Training Camp held at the Rantembe Training Centre where
the best two Platoons from the 16 Battalions spread throughout the
country. Kandy's Dharmaraja College Platoon's 2nd Battalion won the
coveted 'Herman Loos' Champion Trophy for the year 2009 and was honoured
as the Presidents Platoon of the year. This Platoon was led by Captain
Ananda Wijeratne of the NCC who was ably assisted by Sergeant T.M.S.H.
Bandara.
This trophy was awarded by Minister of Local Government and
Provincial Councils Janaka Bandara Tennakoon (old Rajan) who as the
chief guest amidst a large gathering of School Principals, Teachers and
Parents.
A very special feature on this occasion was the presence of both boys
and girls Cadets from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal and Maldives.
Dharmaraja has won this prestigious Trophy four times earlier, in
1968, 1976, 1996 and 2001 with Lt. H.W. Seneviratne, Lt. M.B. Sirisoma
and Lt. R.U.K. Rajapakse who had the honour of winning it twice. |
