AIS in cager semi final

The International Schools Under 17 boys basketball tournament
organized by the Colombo International school seems to be a really
jinxed tournament. Of the two semi finals to be played YESTERDAY at the
CIS courts, but only the AIS vs Lyceum, Wattala was concluded.
AIS stomped all over Wattala Lyceum in a one-sided affair with a
score of 76 to 30. At half time the score was 42-17 in favour of AIS.
For AIS Janith 18, Akeel 14, Nabeel 11 and Kesigan 8 played well to
swell their points tally, while Supun 11, Dananjaya 8 scored for the
losers.
The second semi-final which was going to be a hard fought match
between Lyceum Nugegoda and Gateway, to be played at 4 p.m.
Had to be postponed due to heavy rain.
The organizers and referees were very concerned about the safety of
the players on a slippery court in a tight match and decided to postpone
the second semi-final for today.
Both being well-matched teams, coach Tharindu of Gateway College was
keen that the players did not get injured before the final scheduled for
next week. The much looked forward tournament has now stretched over
three weeks.
