SLPA warns of bogus job racketeers
The Criminal Investigation Department is investigating a number of
complaints by the public about certain persons soliciting or taking
bribes on the promise of finding employment in the organizations under
the purview of the Ports and Aviation Ministry, a press release from the
Ministry said yesterday.
The Ministry was also receiving information about such dishonest
persons who are making false promises with the intention of getting
bribes almost on a daily basis.
"There are no vacancies in the Sri Lanka Ports Authority and the
public are cautioned not to give bribes to any person to get jobs," the
release said.
It had come to light that the persons who are taking bribes use the
names of the family members of President Mahinda Rajapaksa or the names
of officials in the Presidential Secretariat to deceive people and take
bribes and the public are requested to inform the nearest police station
or police headquarters.
