Assault on son: Engineer indicted

Indictment has been filed against an Aeronautics Engineer before the Colombo High Court, who allegedly assaulted his eight-year-old son and caused injuries.

High Court Judge Sunil Rajapaksa fixed the case for January 15, 2010.

The Attorney General filed the indictment against S.P. Liyanage for assaulting his child and causing injuries to him.

The child in his statement to Police said that his father assaulted him one day and when his teacher inquired him of the incident, he had told the teacher all the details.

Thereafter, his father beat him inquiring as to why he told it to his teacher. He said his elder brother saw his father assaulting him.

The child said his parents were living separately.
