Lanka's end to terrorism an example to world - ex-Nepalese PM

President Mahinda Rajapaksa on a two day official visit to Nepala yesterday met former Nepalese Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal.

The former Premier said Sri Lanka's humanitarian operation that saw an end to 30 years of terrorism was an example to the entire world.

He also took the opportunity to praise President Rajapaksa to pursuing with a massive development drive even amidst the war against terrorism and for providing the necessary leadership.

He was also full of praise for the manner in which the Sri Lankan people were spared the consequences of the global economic crisis.

President Rajapaksa said his visit signified the further strengthening of the centuries old cultural and social ties between the two countries.

Also present were Ministers Nimal Siripala de Silva, Tissa Karaliyadda and Mervyn Silva, Additional Secretary to the President Gamini Senarath, Special Co-ordinating Secretary to the President and Southern Provincial Councillor Sajin Vas Gunawardena.

A meeting was also scheduled for last night between the President and the business community and trade chamber heads of both countries.
