Lula praises Brazil economy
BRAZIL: Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva asserted on
Monday that his country's economy can not stop, to be able to recover
from the backward state it was plunged into in decades without
developing.
Brazil needs several consecutive years of growth to generate more
jobs, rent, the workers' income, because that way, people will have
greater purchasing power and companies will produce more, said Lula in
his habitual Coffee with the President radio show on Mondays.
Analyzing unemployment decrease in September to 7.7 percent, the
President held that Brazil is on the right track, because economy,
industry and trade are growing, simultaneously to employment, the rent,
a mechanism that is composed of a huge wheel that should never stop.
To explain the good time in the country's economy, Lula mentioned a
recent study by the World Bank that predicted that if Brazil continues
to grow, it could become the fifth world economy by 2016. That is a
challenge, the President said.
Thus, we need to do things right. We have not to make any invention
or magic, but just to be aware that we need more credit, eliminate tax
burdens to encourage people to buy what they still do not have, as
houses, electrical appliances, and other goods. Brasilia, Prensa Latina
