A cash bail in a sum of rupees five million was deposited with the
Supreme Court registry yesterday on behalf of Ceylinco Group Chairman
Lalith Kotelawela, a Court official said.
The official said that the five senior executives of the Ceylinco
Cisco Security Company also signed the personal bail as sureties.
The certified bail of Rs. 100 million will be signed by the five tax
payers tomorrow and the committal releasing Kotelawala could be singed
thereafter, the official added.
The Supreme Court earlier on Friday granted conditional bail to the
Ceylinco Chairman who was in the remand custody in respect of
misappropriation of Rs. 26 billion from the Golden Key Credit Card
company.
According to the Court order, Kotelawala was ordered not to travel
out of the Western Province without prior approval of the court.
The court also directed the two respondents to appear before the
Director CID every week and also ordered to get the prior permission of
the court to go out of the Western Province.
Kotelawala was also ordered to file an affidavit within two weeks
outlining his assets here and abroad.
Kotelawala was further ordered to transfer the assets of the Golden
Key Company to the Dedicated Fund.
The court cautioned that violation of any of the bail conditions
would result in re-remanding the respondent.
