Royal in innings win

Royal College beat St. Benedict's College by an innings and 83 runs in their under-19 inter-school cricket match concluded at Kotahena on Saturday.

Replying to the mammoth Royal total of 302 for 7 declared the Bens who were reeling at 45 for 6 on the first day were bundled out for 58 runs with the pace duo of Lakshan Landewela (5 for 26) and debutante Imran Khan (4 for 19) being the wreckers.

Following on the Bens fared better to score 161 runs with Varuna Fernando top scoring with 35. Left arm leg spinner Maneesha Thanthirigoda was the main destroyer with 4 for 44

St. Benedict's College: (45 for 6 overnight) 58 (Nisal Fonseka 18, Lakshan Landewela 5 for 26, Imran Khan 4 for 19) and 161 (Varuna Fernando 35, Roy Sheran 30, Sandun Sampath 30, Nisal Fonseka 20, Maneesha Thanthirigoda 4 for 44, Charutha Rajaratne 3 for 29, Ramith Rambukwella 2 for 45).
