Man stabbed to death

A man was stabbed to death and another shot dead in two separate incidents in Meetiyagoda and Embilipitiya on Thursday night. Three who were badly injured in the incidents are being treated in hospitals.

M. Dammika Kumara (29), a resident of Aluthwela was stabbed to death near his residence in Aluthwela around 8.30 pm, police spokesman Senior DIG Nimal Mediwake said.

Two others who were injured in the clash were rushed to Balapitiya and Galle hospitals.

The suspect was arrested by the police.

"The motive of killing is believed to be a personal dispute," he added.

Meewetiya police are investigating.

Meanwhile, K.M. Wasantha (35) was shot dead by unidentified suspects when he was travelling with his friend in a trishaw in Moraketiya along the Sevanagala road in Embilipitiya on Thursday night.
