Leeds Metropolitan University teams up with Mobitel

Discounts for ComBank card holders at Abans and Damro
More than 1.6 million Credit, Debit and Shopping cardholders of the
Commercial Bank can now enjoy discounts at Abans and Damro outlets with
the launch of a new promotion by the benchmark private sector bank.
Valid till December 31, 2009, the new promotion allows cardholders to
enjoy discounts up to 20 percent on purchases at any Abans outlet for
upfront payments and 15 percent on the purchase of goods on the zero -
interest easy payments scheme. Damro is offering a discount of five
percent on upfront payments.
In addition to these discounts, the cardholders would also be
entitled to overseas promotions carried out by Mastercard and VISA
during this period. “This is an opportunity for our cardholders to save
substantially on their purchases at Abans and Damro,” Head of Commercial
Bank’s Card Centre Lakshman Perera said.
“Although some cardholders may be put off by the stamp duty of one
percent applicable to Credit cards, these discounts will more than
offset the tax.”

CDB schols for three – wheeler owners’ children
Citizens Development Business Finance Ltd (CDB) awarded scholarships
to children of three-wheeler owners who obtained the highest results at
the 2008 Grade five scholarship examination and the 2007 GCE O/L exam.
Chief Guest was Founder Dean of the Medical Faculty of the University of
Kelaniya and author of “Towards a Peaceful Sri Lanka”, Prof. Carlo
Fonseka.

Some 19 boys and 12 girls from different socio income groups gathered
at the BMICH with their happy parents to receive these scholarships as
part of “CDB Sisudiri - Season two”, Sri Lanka’s first ever such
scholarship program.
Each children were given scholarships whereby the Grade five winners
will receive cash on an annual basis until they complete their O/L exam.
The O/L winners will also receive cash on an annual basis until they
complete their A/L exam.
Citizens Development Chief Executive Officer Mahesh Nanayakkara said
the Company was happy to continue this program for the benefit of the
children of three - wheeler owners. “Three wheeler owners render a great
service to society at large. Just as any of us, they too have dreams of
meaningfully educating their children and seeing them doing better in
life. We at the CDB are gratified that this is the first ever such
project of its kind which assists these children in their education.
We’re happy to join hands with their parents and help them realize that
dream”, he said. |
