The Trade Finance Association of Bankers (TFAB) held their 100th
Council Meeting recently at the Galadari Hotel. The President, on behalf
of the Council, paid a glowing tribute to its founder members and all
past councilors for their dedication and contributions in the 13 year
history of the Association.
The members of the Council presented a special token of appreciation
to its incumbent President Parama Dharmawardene, for the invaluable
services rendered and for continuing to be a live wire of the
Association as its President for the third consecutive year.
The members of TFAB’s Advisory Committee, A. Kathiravelupillai and
Ernest Gunasekera also was present on the occasion and expressed their
views on the direction the association should take in moving forward.
Formed in 1997, by a group of Senior Bankers involved in International
Trade operations who identified the need for a coordinated effort of all
bankers in Sri Lanka involved in international trade operations to build
a global image of the country’s ability to provide a truly professional
standard of service, by adopting the best practices in handling
international trade transactions. Creating and sustaining a high level
of expertise in the trade finance operations was another objective of
TFAB.
The members of the inaugural Council included eminent bankers in the
area of trade finance. |
