Sixteen year old Manoj Sarathchandra made a brilliant 111 not out
with 9 fours off 146 balls to help St. Anthony's College total 294 for 4
wickets at the end of the first day's play in their inter-school cricket
match Vidyartha College which began at Katugastota yesterday.
The Antonians winning the toss and took first lease of the wicket.
Opener Hiran Wickremasekera started the run glut with a polished
knock of 89 which had 5 hits to the ropes and was associated in a third
wicket stand of 120 with Manoj Sarathchandra.
Ironically Manoj Sarathchandra had his cricket foundation at
Vidyartha College and played junior cricket for that school before
crossing over to St. Anthony's College. Manoj Sarathchandra keen on
getting his hundred yesterday batted in fading light conditions in
reaching his maiden ton.
St. Anthony's 294 for 4 wickets on 84 overs (P.A. Premaratne 26,
