Moors win despite Sanga’s ton

Sri Lankan captain Kumar Sangakkara hit a brilliant century but could not prevent his team NCC going down to Moors SC by four wickets in their SLC Premier limited overs cricket tournament Tier A match worked off at Maitland Place yesterday.

Sangakkara hammered 116 from 120 deliveries with two sixes and eleven boundaries and also added 110 for the fifth wicket along with all rounder Farveez Maharoof.

However Moors SC reached their target of 230 runs with three balls to spare following a fifth wicket partnership of 96 runs between Hasantha Fernando (47) and Anil Rideegammanagedera (45).

NCC: 230 in 48.5 overs (K. Sangakkara 116, F. Maharoof 41, S. Pradeep 23, C. Welagedera 3 for 38, I. Gunasena 2 for 27, D. Lokuhettige 2 for 26).

Moors SC: 231 for 6 in 49.3 overs (S. Kalawitigoda 66, H. Fernando 47, A. Rideegammanagedera 45).

Easy win for Ragama CC

All rounder Kaushalya Weeraratne hit a sparkling half century and leg spinner Malinga Bandara snapped up four wickets for 19 as Ragama CC cruised to an easy 107 run victory over Sri Lanka Army Sports Club in their SLC Premier limited overs cricket tournament Tier A match worked off at Braybrooke Place yesterday.

Ragama CC: 246 for 8 in 50 overs (L. Thirimanna 20, I. de Saram 62, S. Perera 35, S. de Zoysa 36, K. Weeraratne 74 n.o, M. Peiris 2 for 51, D. Balasuriya 2 for 37).

Army SC: 139 in 24.5 overs (T. Masmulla 20, S. Prasanna 62, K. Weeraratne 2 for 10, D. Gamage 3 for 31, M. Bandara 4 for 19).

CCC by 44 runs

Middle order batsman Jehan Mubarak struck a fluent half century while Chaminda Vidanapathirana captured four wickets for 26 to give CCC a 44 run victory over Baduraliya CC in their SLC Premier limited overs cricket tournament Tier A match worked off at Maitland Crescent yesterday.

Shanuka helps Bloomfield win

A splendid all round performance from Shanuka Dissanayake helped Bloomfield beat their arch rivals SSC by 51 runs in their SLC Premier limited overs cricket tournament Tier A match worked off at Reid Avenue yesterday.

Bloomfield: 266 in 49.5 overs (D. Munaweera 32, S. Jayasuriya 37, C. Silva 19, S. Jayantha 43, S. Dissanayake 69, P. Jayawardena 22, D. Fernando 3 for 50, K. Lokuarachchi 2 for 27).

SSC: 215 in 43.5 overs (D. Karunaratne 53, T. Paranavithana 22, K. Lokuarachchi 70, S. Dissanayake 4 for 29).

Chilaw Marians win

Opener Mahela Udawatte hit a top score of 92 to spearhead Chilaw Marians SC to a 36 run victory over Tamil Union in their SLC Premier limited overs cricket tournament Tier A match worked off at the P. Saravanamuttu Oval yesterday.

Chilaw Marians SC: 274 in 49.5 overs (M. Udawatte 92, G. Wijekoon 63, M. Siriwardena 29, A. Janoda 21, S. Lakmal 3 for 61, M. Pushpakumara 2 for 40, I. Udana 2 for 53).

Colts down Saracens

Half centuries from openers Malinda Warnapura (55), Jeewantha Kulatunga (52) Dilruwan Perera (66) and Roshane Silva (53) enabled Colts CC to pile up a huge 305 for 5 and beat Saracens SC by 67 runs in their SLC Premier limited overs cricket tournament Tier A match worked off at Havelock Park yesterday.
