More arms recovered

Security Forces continuing search and clear operations in the liberated areas in the North and the East recovered a stock of arms and weapons on Tuesday.

Military Spokesman Brigadier Udaya Nanayakkara said troops launching extensive search and clearing operations in the Kilinochchi and the Mullaitivu districts recovered a stock of arms and ammunition on Tuesday. Troops uncovered 382 Anti Personnel Mines, 24 detonators, 105 rounds of 12.7mm ammunition, 15 of 40mm cartridges, a 12 bore shotgun, eight hand grenades, two booby traps, three 81mm mortar bombs, a Rocket Propelled Grenade and 40 of 60 mortar bombs.

Navy Spokesman Captain D.P.K. Dassanayake said acting on information a Naval Intelligence team has unearthed a 120mm mortar gun, a barrel, a base plate and a bipod at the Tractor junction in Verugal on Tuesday evening.
