The Healthcare and Nutrition Ministry suspects that the three
incidents that occurred at the Ratnapura hospital during the past two
days is sabotage, a Healthcare and Nutrition Ministry spokesman said.
He said that the Ministry has already stopped using both drugs and
taken away the batches of two drugs. Within a period of two days two
pieces of glass had been discovered from two injection bottles stored at
the Ratnapura hospital and after those two incidents a patient
experienced 'Anaphylaxis Reaction' after receiving another injection.
Two pieces of glass were discovered inside a bottle containing Cefroxlin
and another bottle containing Hydrocortisone.
After the two incidents another patient suffered from 'Anaphylaxis
Reaction' after an injection prescribed for severe allergies, was
administered. The investigation has been handed over to the CID because
all three incidents were reported from the same hospital within a period
of two days.
Prof. Rohini Fernandopulle will lead a three member committee which
will investigate the incident in connection with a patient suffering
from 'Anaphylaxis Reaction' after receiving an injection. The committee
started its investigations yesterday. |
