All 25 districts covered:

Gama Neguma program prospers

The Gama Neguma program is being implemented in all 25 districts in the country and Rs. 10,169 million have been spent on it upto October this year, said the Information Department in a press release.

The release said the program is divided into 7 zones covering 13,528 Grama Niladhari Divisions.

The districts covered by the respective zones the number of projects nearing completion and the amount of funding are as follows.

Zone 1 - Moneragala, Badulla, Ratnapura and Nuwara Eliya - 4,567 projects - Rs. 1,833 million.

Zone 2 - Colombo, Gampaha and Kalutara - 3,992 projects - Rs. 1,482 million.

Zone 3 - Kurunegala, Kegalle and Puttalam - 6,967 projects Rs. 1,523 million.

Zone 4 - Galle, Matara and Hambantota 2,857 projects Rs. 1,650 million.

Zone 5 - Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa and Kandy - 2,726 projects - Rs. 1,579 million.

Zone 6 - Trincomalee, Ampara and Batticaloa - 2,527 projects Rs. 1,270 million.

Zone 7 - Jaffna, Mullaitivu, Vavuniya and Kilinocchi - 549 projects. Rs. 827 million. Projects in Zone 7 will be undertaken after cleaning land mines.

Already 24,185 projects have been launched in all 7 zones and 11,000 of them have been completed.

Almost 90 percent of the work has been completed in another 3,200 projects according to Nation Building Ministry's Director Kapila Ariyawansa the release said.
