'Unauthorised' fee:

Isipathana under investigation

Education Minister Susil Premjayanth said in Parliament that he would take appropriate action against the acceptance of unauthorised fees charged from few students at Isipathana College, Colombo, once he received the audit investigation report over it.

The Minister made this comment in reply to a question raised by Anura Kumara Dissanayake MP.

Dissanayake had alleged that a student had been charged Rs. 12,000 in two instalments at this school and this had not been returned to the student in keeping with the Minister's earlier order that action would be taken to return such unauthorised collection of money from students allegedly collected in few other schools.

The Minister said similar incidents of this nature had been reported and they were referred to the Ministry's audit unit and action could be taken accordingly.
