HDFC joins Lanka Bell payment network

Lanka Bell's islandwide bill settlement network has grown by another 24 outlets with the company's new partnership with HDFC Bank.

Lanka Bell bills can now be settled at any HDFC branch islandwide. Payments can be made by cash or cheque, a spokesman for the company said.

HDFC Bank plans to open four more branches in Vavunia, Jaffna, Mannar and Trincomalee within the next three months.

Lanka Bell also offers bill settlement through the branch networks of 14 other banks, the Commercial Bank of Ceylon, Sampath Bank, Bank of Ceylon, Hatton National Bank, People's Bank, HSBC, Nations Trust Bank, Standard Chartered Bank, Seylan Bank, National Savings Bank, NDB Bank, DFCC Vardhana Bank, PABC Bank, Union Bank as well as 350 plus outlets of Singer Sri Lanka and 250 plus outlets of Abans.

Lanka Bell provides CDMA 'fixed line' with 1.2 million subscribers.

Lanka Bell continues to make substantial investments to take its technology and services to all geographic regions and all segments of the market in Sri Lanka.


McDonald's and Coca-Cola reward consumers

McDonald's together with Coca-Cola Beverages Sri Lanka Ltd carried out a rewarding consumer initiative from August 25 to September 30 at all McDonald's outlets. The awards ceremony for this consumer promotion was conducted recently at the McDonald's outlet in Nugegoda in the presence of McDonald's Managing Director Russi Pestonjee, McDonald's Director Udesh Wijesooriya, Coca-Cola Beverages Sri Lanka Country Manager Patrick Pech and Sri Lanka and Maldives Coca-Cola Far East Ltd. Country Manager Manish Chaturvedi. Every consumer who visited any McDonald's outlet during this period was a winner and they were entitled to prizes.

Among the giveaways of the promotion were two air tickets to South Africa providing consumers with the opportunity of witnessing the international cricket tournament. In addition one ticket was also handed out to the relevant McDonald's Outlet Manager who acquired the biggest volume of sales. Accordingly Manager of the McDonald's outlet in Colpetty, Richard Sathyanathan was the winner.

Consumers were also rewarded with 100 tickets each for the Sri Lanka/New Zealand Tournament Final and for the Triangular Series among Pakistan, New Zealand and Sri Lanka and 200 branded T-shirts, free Cokes and upsized meals at all McDonald's outlets. McDonald's Managing Director Russi Pestonjee said "McDonald's initiated this scheme with Coca-Cola to acknowledge our consumers.

The rewards scheme made sure that every consumer had the opportunity of being rewarded and this was the aspect of our offering to the consumers. Cricket is a favourite among Sri Lankans; hence McDonald's decided to reward our consumers.

Chaturvedi said, "This was an opportunity by which Coca-Cola could reward consumers in many ways. Coca-Cola is symbolic of joy, passion and celebration and this is yet another instance in which we have brought these aspects to life. Hence, initiatives such as this portray our commitment and interest towards our consumers".


R&G teams up with Fullmark product

Per second and per minute from Dialog

Dialog Mobile has introduced an innovative concept to its prepaid segment by giving users the opportunity to experience the benefits of per second and per minute billing.

This new offer gives prepaid subscribers the freedom to switch packages between per minute to per second billing and vice versa depending on their usage requirements. Subscribers have complete freedom to switch between per second and per minute on prepaid connections.

Switching from per second to per minute or vice versa entails no additional charges for the initial transfer. If a subscriber wishes to make calls of short duration, they now have the choice of activating the per second prepaid call plan, and in the same way switch to per minute for long calls.
