'Star' attraction

Swarnavahini's reality programs concluded amidst cheers on Oct 17:

EAP Group Chairperson Dr. Soma Edirisinghe, Managing Director Jeewaka Edirisinghe, Program Director Buddhika Kulasekara and the winners in a celebratory mood

Nandana Hettiarachchi, Manusha Anuradhi and Prasad Galappaththi (Mr. Bean) trumped the list as the 'Comedy Star', 'Singing Star' and 'Shadow Star' in Swarnavahini's popular reality show trio which came to a finale on October 17 at the Sri Lanka Exhibition and Convention Center, Colombo. (SLECC).

Masses flocked into the venue to cheer on their favourites while more gathered at their television sets and tuned into the channel to catch the action live. Swarnavahini also went down in the country's electronic media history as the first channel to conclude three reality television programs at the same day and event.

A female contestant also clinching the title as 'Singing Star' was also a specialty as it is mostly male contestants who bag a majority of SMSs in the past reality programs hosted by various media channels in the country.

Seasoned actor and media personality Ravindra Randeniya proved once again that he excels as a compere as he hosted the three-fold show and kept the atmosphere alive and throbbing. 'Comedy Star' was hosted by Jayantha Atapattu, 'Singing Star' by Lahiru Mudalige and 'Shadow Star' by Anusha Damayanthi. Roy de Silva, Ronnie Leitch and Semini Iddamalgoda comprise the 'Comedy Star' jury while Aruna Lian, Sanjeewani Weerasinghe and Raju Bandara made up the panel of judges of 'Singing Star'. Ranjan Ramanayake, Anarkalli Aakarssha, Wasantha Dukgannarala and Jayasekara Aponsu adjudged the 'Shadow Star' event.

EAP Group Chairperson Dr. Soma Edirisinghe, Managing Director Jeewaka Edirisinghe, directors Nalaka Edirisinghe, Deepa Edirisinghe, Director Marketing M.G. M. Malik and Program Director Buddhika Kulasekara were among those who handed out the trophies and prizes - a motor vehicle and two luxurious houses each worth Rs. eight million.

Our photographer Tennyson Edirisinghe was also there to capture tuneful, comic and inimitable moments on lens.
