BoC assists Jaffna development
The Bank of Ceylon has drawn up a program to grant Rs. 10,000 million
for development in the Jaffna peninsula. This is double the amount of
allocation granted to all other districts.
Chairman Dr. Gamini Wickramasinghe has instructed officials to
expedite the programs in the spheres of agriculture, animal husbandry
and education under the Uthuru Vasanthaya development program.
Meanwhile, steps have also been taken to open up for more Bank of Ceylon
branches in Jaffna area to facilitate these development activities.
During his recent visit in Jaffna, Chairman met the Government Agent,
State officials and several small and medium level entrepreneurs. He
visited their industrial sites and agricultural farms and listened to
their problems. He also made contributions to the development of
religious places such as Nagadipa Viharaya and Nallur temple. |
