President to lay foundation stone for Sama Maha Chetiya

President Mahinda Rajapaksa will lay the foundation stone for the construction of the first Sama Maha Chetiya today in the sacred city of Anuradhapura, out of the nine such chetiyas being erected in each province.

These chetiyas are being constructed to commemorate the total eradication of the LTTE from the country. The commemorative stupa will be erected between the Sacred Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi and the Ruwanweli Seya Stupa, close to the Buddhasravaka Bhikkhu University.
