Accolades for Kanyavi producer

Popular film producer Indika Wijeratne had clinched a handful of
awards for his service to the industry. Recently he was awarded the
Vidya Vibooshana, Kalamanakaranavedi, Adyapana Ha Dharshana Visharada
Jathika Gavruwa Apadi Gavruwa Award at a felicitation ceremony held to
mark the 83rd anniversary of the Sri Lanka Social Service Welfare
Assembly and the 50th anniversary of the Sri Lanka Jathikabimani
Weeraputhra Gunasmaruna assembly held at the BMICH.
A past pupil of Karandeniya Yatigala Madhi Vidyalaya and hailing form
the southern province Wijeratne had joined the open university of
Colombo to pursue further studies in the engineering sector.
He had been the consultant to many national and international
development projects and is now the head of his own Building Company.
He had also played a noteworthy role in some of the leading building
projects in the island.
His entrance to the entertainment sector happened when he took over
the presidency of the Sri Lanka United Tower Hall artistes’ society in
2002.
He had launched many new programs in this field as well including
incepting the Sarasavi Kala Pela to popularize stage dramas. He had
produced a number of television programs too.
Sirithunga Perera’s Kanyavi which is poised to begin screening next
month is the latest creation which he had produced.
The movie is his company Cine Vision Lanka’s maiden production.
