Southerners have endorsed Govt's forward march

The UPFA has secured a convincing victory with a two-thirds majority of 38 members at the recently concluded Southern Provincial Council Election. This massive victory is clearly present in all the districts namely Galle, Matara and Hambantota. People in the Southern Province have thus given a slap in the face of the UNP which fought against the UPFA, National Freedom Front Leader Wimal Weerawansa has said in a press release.

The UNP used the election platform to launch a conspiracy against the entire country. They came out with all bogus propaganda against the President and the war heroes who liberated the country. The UNP Leader also went down to the low level of tarnishing the image of the true patriots of the country. However, the progressive people in the Southern Province have destroyed all these myths orchestrated by the UNP and its leader.

On the other hand, the JVP too has suffered a shameful defeat at this Southern Provincial Council Election. This party has now been reduced to a mere 3 seats from its earlier strength of 14 members. Its vote base in Tissamaharama too has been reduced by 50 percent as a result of the party's stand along with the UNP in the latters conspiratory tactics. This time the JVP entered into Provincial Council frays beginning from the Eastern PC election with 81 members in hand. Today in all the 8 Provincial Councils this party has secured just 9 members. They have thus lost 72 members in the process.
