NCC in innings win over Army

NCC helped by a superb spell of bowling by L. Wijenayake (5/66) beat Sri Lanka Army by an innings and 168 runs in their Premier Division Tier ‘A’ match concluded at Maitland Place yesterday.

Army resuming their second innings at 19 for one could not cope with the bowling of Wijenayake who was ably supported by Chanaka Komasaru (3 for 47) as the soldiers were skittled out for 174 runs in their second innings.

Baduraliya Cricket Club after conceding a first innings lead of 13 runs to Tamil Union bounced back to score an outright win by 19 runs.

Chasing a victory target of 204 runs Tamil Union could muster only 185 runs with S. Silva (4 for 62) and Niroshan Bandaratilleke (3 for 52) being the main wreckers.

The game between Bloomfield and Moors ended in a thrilling draw at Baybrooke Place yesterday with Moors chasing a victory target of 293 finishing on 248 for 6 wickets.

SSC scored a thrilling two run first innings win over Colts in their match played at Havelock Park yesterday.

Colts replying to the mammoth SSC total of 372 fell short by two runs with Mapa Bandara remaining unbeaten on 104. Dhammika Prasad was the pick of the SSC bowlers with 3 wickets for 66. SSC piled up 241 for 6 wickets in their second innings helped by a sparkling century by Dhammika Prasad (103 not out).

NCC beat Army by an innings
