'Southerners have shown their uppermost tribute to President'

Anunayaka Thera of the Asgiriya Chapter Ven. Galagama Sri Aththadassi Thera, commenting on the UPFA victory at the Southern Provincial Council Election 2009, said the people of the South have shown their uppermost tribute to President Mahinda Rajapaksa who had brought peace and a permanent solution to the terrorist problem which no leader in the past could fulfill during his or her tenure.

President Rajapaksa has accomplished a feat which no leader in the world was able to do. People who were battered by the three decade old terrorist war have fittingly shown the gratitude, the Thera said.

The people have a clear picture about the identity of the leader who truly loves the country and its people. They have demonstrated this clean conviction through this election result, he said.

Ministers too should make an effort to build this kind of trust and confidence people have towards the President. It is now time for everybody to unite forgetting party politics and work for the betterment of the country, the Thera said.
