Poetry
You betrayed me
Albert, my bosom friend,
My hero, my Ulysess,
My lion and dare devil,
You betrayed me.
Albert, my adventurer,
Hercules, my giant of valour,
Warrior and menace to all foes;
You betrayed me.
Albert, my faithful friend,
Consumer of my poor fare,
And usual evening tots;
You betrayed me.
Albert, my shadow of life,
My bodyguard and escort,
And sharer of each delight;
You betrayed me.
Albert, my great jester,
Messenger and confidante,
And comforter of sorrow;
You betrayed me.
Albert, my paragon,
My partners kinsman,
And ever my benefactor;
You betrayed me.
Albert, my friend achates,
My praiser and admirer,
Peace-maker and adviser;
You betrayed me.
Albert, my Brutus,
Kalidas and Antony combined,
Oh! most loyal friend;
You betrayed me.
Albert, my right hand,
And my heart and soul,
Worthiest of all friends;
You betrayed me.
Albert, my half brother,
Truest and dearest self,
And veritable alter ego;
You betrayed me.

The music of the sea
As I walk along the beach
The non-stop music of the sea,
Simply fascinates me.
I listen with awe
To the drum beat of the ocean
And to the hiss and plunk
Of the towering waves
That leap and fall
On the golden sand.
I listen to the unencumbered
Whistling of the wind
And to the unending shriek
Of the gulls
That fly over the sea
In precise formation.
So when -
I enjoy with great enchantment
To this unceasing sound of music
Of the sea,
I get the feeling
That my mind is in
Supreme peace and harmony.
It's truly a magic balm
For stress and fatigue.
Oh! how sublime and refreshing
Is the music of the sea.

A panorama on the banks of a river
The busy city is still at slumber
On the banks of a beautiful river
The overnight rains seem to have subsided
Thus clouds embrace have slowly freed
At a distance the eastern sky looks clear
As painted with attractive colour
Cast against the sky somewhat dark
Hints the daybreak at the brink
Buildings it with flashlights made them glow
Anchored boats on the river dimly lit on show
Haze hangs serene beneath the trees and over the river
With the scented air and humming breeze made cooler
Reflections of the buildings seen on water
Add to it, the colours in the sky that ponder
Could be viewed as a heavenly scene
Marvel of nature could be realized by everyone
The cool water looks still and peace
As the river seems to be still at snooze
Birds stir on each treetop
Happily after a goodnight sleep
The birds the first to rise at the scenery
Stillness broken with their petite symphony
Take the flight in flocks with striking shapes
What a wonderful panorama of nature's creations.

Aspirations
The scent of Earth
is the flatter of life
time is but an empty sigh
of that aroma.
Sheds not a tear of blood
for the sake of beauty
feels not a ray of light
for the sake of beauty
Should timely showers of rain
fall forth
onto a country
of worthless ones
born for the sake of
being born.

Dharmasena Pathiraja) Sunanda Mahendra

The news report consisted a picture of
A tractor load of people
Transported from the liberated land
To a camp.
The expression of the
Men women and children were not clear
Just a blur of human heds.
But the picture had also captured
Eleven dogs in number
Of various colours, sizes and shapes
Following the vehicle
For the cargo would have consisted of
Their friends as well as their only family
And a dog indicates warmth of ties
Comradeship plus companionship and
A life of love, sharing and settlement.

A stone
upon my heart and head,
But no name written on the stone!
Sweet neighbours, whisper low instead,
“This sinner was a loving one-
And now her spinning is all done”
