This year the Zahirians have taken another step further by transforming the memorial trophy to remember not only Major Ifthikar Yoonoos but also to make a tribute to all the servicemen produced by Zahira who lost their lives in the separatist war that lasted three decades.

"Zahira Ranaviru Challenge Trophy" (ZRCT) will be held at the Zahira College grounds Maradana on October 4 (Sunday). The organizing committee will felicitate the families of the late servicemen of Zahira College on this day.

The event will start at 3.00pm with a friendly rugby match between players of age over 40 and past national players of Zahira. The big match between past and the present Zahirians will follow.

Former president of Sri Lanka Rugby Football Union (SLRFU), Senior DIG Nimal Lewke will grace the occasion as the chief guest.

The event will be organized by the Zahira Old Boys' Rugby Association.
