Festival of praise and worship

Annual gathering

The Sri Lanka Majlis Ansarullah will hold its Annual Gathering tomorrow at the Ahmadiyya Jubilee Hall, Periyamulla, Negombo under its President M.M. Faris.


Vihara Maha Devi old girls meet

A get-together organised by the Old Girls' Association of Vihara Maha Devi Vidyalaya will be held on September 3 from 4 pm at the Amara Wickramasinghe Hall.


Islamic lecture

An Islamic lecture organized by Dharunnadhvah Lilkhairiyath, an Association of Muslim Men and Boys, on Halaal and Haraam by Moulavi M.

SOS for O Negative blood

There is an urgent requirement for O Negative Blood for a cancer patient at the Maharagama Cancer Hospital. The patient Nisansala Sewwanthi (14) is warded at Ward No. 9.


NICs for Southern voters

Registration of Persons Department has processed nearly 90 percent of the applications for NICs received from voters in the Southern Province and issued the relevant identity cards in time of the forthcoming provincial council Elections, said Commissioner General A.G. Dharmadasa. The Department has received a total of 18,464 applications for NICs from southern voters and the balance applicants would be issued identity cards within the next few days, he said.


Miners buried

Two persons engaged in unauthorised sand mining in the Kinbulwanaoya tank were buried under a layer of earth. Susil de Silva (31), a resident of Nikadalupotha had died on the spot while his nephew Bandula Rajapakse was admitted to the Hiripitiya District hospital with severe injuries.

According to the Wellawa Police the victims had been mining sand at a place called Akiriyagoda. They had dug a tunnel through the sand mound and it had collapsed on them.


Indecent conductor arrested

A bus conductor who used his mobile phone to show indecent films to schoolchildren in a bus belonging to the Teldeniya CTB Depot was arrested by Rangala Police along with his phone on Wednesday. After checking the mobile phone, police had found 57 indecent pictures in it.

Police said the 18 year-old conductor had engaged in these while travelling on the foot board.


International Elders' day

Pasbage Social Services office will celebrate International Elders' Day in collaboration with Pasbage Korale United Elders' Society on October 4 from 9.00 a.m. at Rambukpitiya College Main Hall.

The Sri Lanka Vaccine Forum will hold a Seminar on Vaccines on October 3 Saturday from 8.30 am to 1.00 pm at the Lionel Memorial Auditorium, Sri Lanka Medical Association (SLMA).
