Joint railway-bus service begins from Matara today

The Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) will commence a joint railway-bus service today from the Matara Railway Station for the benefit of commuters travelling in the Sagarika train to Matara from Colombo.

An SLTB spokesman told the Daily News that the joint railway-bus service will fill the long felt need of commuters living in Matara.

Eleven new bus services will commence from the Railway Station Matara for the benefit of commuters coming to Matara by Sagarika train. Once the Sagarika train comes to the Matara station, 11 bus services will start from the station to Akuressa, Yatiyana, Walasmulla, Radampala, Aparekka, Dickwella, Thelijjawila, Aththudawa, Kamburupitiya and Malimbada.

The opening ceremony to launch these 11 bus services will be held today under the patronage of Transport Minister Dullas Alahapperuma at the Matara Railway Station.
