Ranjanee's contribution to the cinema

Ranjanee Ratnavibhushana, Board Member of the Network for the
Promotion of Asian Cinema (NETPAC) and the General Secretary of the
Asian Film Centre/Sri Lanka, has left for Thailand to participate at the
6th Bangkok International Film Festival 2009 which was held from
September 24 to 30. She was the Chairperson of the NETPAC Jury at
Bangkok International Film Festival.
The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) and the Federation of
National Film Associations of Thailand have joined forces to present the
foremost film event in South East Asia. Not only has attendance risen on
previous years, but also the festival directors have managed to attract
an even wider range of audiences, exposing a new generation of filmgoers
to an incredible variety of movies from across the globe.
Ranjanee is the Associate Editor of Cinesith (quarterly film
journal), Editor of the Sri Lankan Film Annual, Author of The Cinema of
Adoor Gopalakrishnan and Publisher of the book LJP - Lester James Peries
life and work. She has participated in several FIPRESCI, FICC and NETPAC
juries such as Locarno, Vesoul, Pusan, Brisbane, Bangladesh, Bangkok and
Kerala etc.
She is a banker by profession and presently attached to the People's
Bank Credit Card Centre as the Chief Manager.
The Network for the Promotion of Asian Cinema (NETPAC) is a worldwide
organization of 29 member countries. It was created as the result of a
conference on Asian cinema organized by Cinemaya, the Asian Film
Quarterly, in New Delhi in 1990 at the instance and with the support of
UNESCO, Paris.
