Virtusa's 'Silver Pixels', a photographers delight was open to the public at Harold Peiris Gallery, Lional Wendt Memorial Art Gallery. Exhibiting a variety of images and sceneries, the gallery was vibrant with colours.

This digital photography competition was organized to acknowledge and admire the photographic talents of the employees of Virtusa's global offices. Spellbinding landscapes and amazing stills were showcased under the themes of 'Clarity through simplicity', and 'Agility through Simplicity'. It is noteworthy that both these themes focused on the central theme of simplicity.

Therefore the crowds were able to enjoy a variety of photographs.

Plunging views for coastal cliffs, still shots of deep coastal coral reeves, a small child cuddling a puppy, a silhouette of a man against the sun where some of the photographs showcased under the category of 'Agility through simplicity'.

Under the category of 'Clarity through simplicity' photographs like a still image of a silent, vacant church, a gypsy playing the flute at night, a spider weaving its web caught the eyes of the the viewers.

The winning photography included a closeup of a water drop on a lotus petal, a breathtaking view from a coastal cliff in to the deep coast.

Some of the photography left the viewers curious and guessing as to what the photographs were, while some others had the viewers interpreting them in various ways.

Madu Ratnayake the General Manger of Virtusa Corporation stated at the opening ceremony that "Silver Pixels is committed to showcasing talent among Virtusans, while promoting a passion for hobbies and a work life balance."

The exhibition was declared open by British High Commissioner Peter Hayes.

Six upcoming photographers emerged winners from approximately two hundred competitors. Nirdesh Munasinghe, Suvini Gunawardena, Hirantha Pushpakumara, Peshelle Randeni, Dinoo Perera and Ruwan Bakmedeniya were deemed the winners of 2009 Silver Pixel. Virtusa has organized this event prior to this year and they now make it an annual event.

A large crowd was observed during the exhibition who were awed by the variety and the simplicity in which such profound photography was explicit within the employees of Virtusa. It is commendable that Virtusa is organizing such events to promote and develop their employees talents which instil a sense of creativity within them.
