Rasika launches Ahas Mangallaya

Ahas Mangallaya (Sky Celebration), the fourth book authored by Rasika Solangarachchi, a journalist attached to Dinamina newspaper was launched at National Library Services and Documentation Board Auditorium on September 25.

The new book is a research conducted on traditional farmers in Sri Lanka. The book reveals the negative impact of artificial chemicals such as pesticides and insecticides on the environment. It also describes substitutes that can be used to control pests and insects. Details of many traditional farmers from Hambantota, Badulla, Ganemulla, Padukka and Kahathuduwa are included in this book.

Ancient agricultural activities and the methods used by ancient farmers have been described in detail in Ahas Mangallaya. The book has been written as a novel using simple language. Other books authored by Solangarachchi are Aththam Puranaya (Research), Asala Ahasa (Novel) and Hinipela Negi Minissu (Biographies).

Agricultural Consultant Udaya Silva and few others delivered lectures during the launching ceremony.
