Mutuhettigama granted bail

Galle Additional Magistrate Geethani Wijesinha yesterday (24) released the UPFA Galle District candidate Nishantha Mutuhettigama on bail after considering an application filed by way of a motion submitted through his lawyers for the second time. His first application for bail was rejected the day before by the Galle Magistrate Chamara Tennakoon. His release was executed on three cash bails of Rs. 10,000 each and a surety bail of Rs. 200,000. The candidate had been charged separately by the Galle Harbour Police, Galle Police and Colombo CID respectively on separate counts.

Further the Additional Magistrate granted bail to Mutuhettigama on condition that he or his supporters would in no way contravene any election related rules, damage election offices of other candidates and to maintain good conduct and discipline. He was also ordered to give separate statements to the two Police stations, Galle Harbour and Galle and the Colombo CID in respect of the alleged offenses.

Attorneys P.K.L. Bandara, Chandima Weerakkodi, Thushara de Silva, Srimal Wijesekera, Lalith U. Gamage, Nimal Walakuluarachchi, Manel Mudalige and several other lawyers appeared for Nishantha Mutuhettigama.
