Mutuhettigama granted bail

Galle Additional Magistrate Geethani Wijesinha yesterday (24)
released the UPFA Galle District candidate Nishantha Mutuhettigama on
bail after considering an application filed by way of a motion submitted
through his lawyers for the second time. His first application for bail
was rejected the day before by the Galle Magistrate Chamara Tennakoon.
His release was executed on three cash bails of Rs. 10,000 each and a
surety bail of Rs. 200,000. The candidate had been charged separately by
the Galle Harbour Police, Galle Police and Colombo CID respectively on
separate counts.
Further the Additional Magistrate granted bail to Mutuhettigama on
condition that he or his supporters would in no way contravene any
election related rules, damage election offices of other candidates and
to maintain good conduct and discipline. He was also ordered to give
separate statements to the two Police stations, Galle Harbour and Galle
and the Colombo CID in respect of the alleged offenses.
Attorneys P.K.L. Bandara, Chandima Weerakkodi, Thushara de Silva,
Srimal Wijesekera, Lalith U. Gamage, Nimal Walakuluarachchi, Manel
Mudalige and several other lawyers appeared for Nishantha Mutuhettigama.
