The Healthcare and Nutrition Ministry issued modules including 48
courses for upgrading the knowledge of doctors and nurses in order to
ensure a better clinical service to the public. A team of health
professionals attached to the ministry formulated the modules.
Addressing the launching ceremony held at the SLFI recently
Healthcare and Nutrition Minister Nimal Siripala De Silva said that the
World Bank gives priority for the country’s health sector and good
assistance has been given by the World Bank Project to enhance the
clinical care for the people.
Minister De Silva said arrangements have been made to upgrade all
State hospitals, including the hospitals belonging to Provincial
Councils at a cost of Us $ 25 million.
All hospitals will be upgraded, equipped with new latest technology
and medical equipment under this project.
Doctors and all the other professionals should have a cordial
relationship, work together and coordinate with each other to offer a
better health service to the public.
The attitudes of all including patients should be changed. Only one
group of professionals cannot bring good results alone.
