Chandani and Jacqualine

Popular vocalist Chandani Hettiarachchi returns to the music scene with a bang after a considerable lapse of time with a new CD. Titled Sandu Ewilla, her third album will compromise 10 Sinhala tracks and one English number.

The event will take place on September 20 in Mount Lavinia to coincide with the launch of her website www.cncsrilanka.lk Sandu Ewilla is an M Entertainment product with music directed by Mahinda Bandara, Kasun Kalhara, Chandralal Fonseka, Chaminda Hemarathna, Lanthra Perera and Ayesha Singhawanse. Chandani's daughter, Jacqualine, will also join her mother's voice in three songs in the CD. A product of at St. Lawrence's School, Colombo, Jacqualine had also played a major role on vocals to their band C&C.

Chandani first emerged to the scene in the early 1980s and managed to mesmerize many of the music enthusiasts in the country with her mesmerizing voice. The Matara born songstress first came to Colombo to join the well known band 'Seac Entertainment'. She later formed her own identity with her scintillating voice and style and formed the band C&C with Chaminda Hemarathne, the band leader and her husband., who had also contributed to four of the tracks in Sandu Ewilla.

She had performed a number of times overseas according to the request of her fans and she is the only Sri Lankan artiste to have performed at the Albert Theatre hall in Britain in 1994.

With music ranging from Country to alternative rock, Chandani's unique style in music is what keeps her alive in the hearts of the music lovers. Her previous albums Vilasitha and Yasa Angana had been received well by the public.

Speaking at the press briefing on the launch of Sandu Ewilla Chandani said that the title of the CD derived from her name which also means the moon. She said that the title song in the CD is also Sandu Ewilla and that it is quite a catchy number.

Chandani and C&C are presently engaged in performing in some of the five star hotels in the city.
