Over 300,000 join Public Service

Recruitment not stopped, says Minister:

Opposition Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe has alleged that the Government has stopped recruiting employees to the public sector, but during the last United National Front (UNF) Government led by Wickremesinghe three circulars preventing the recruitment of personnel were issued by his Government, said State Revenue Minister and Financial Planning Deputy Minister, Ranjith Siyambalapitiya at a press conference yesterday.

Minister refutes false claims

The Government is anxious to relax movement restrictions in IDP camps but the strict screening process must continue to stop LTTE cadres masquerading as ordinary citizens slipping out of camps to create havoc in the rest of the country, Human Rights Minister Mahinda Samarasinghe said.

‘Withdrawal will hit industry’:

Continue GSP + facility - Ceramics Council

The Sri Lanka Ceramics Council will appeal to the EU not to destroy the livelihood of those in the creramics industry. This is the worst time to withdraw the GSP+ facility. The denial of the facility will result in us being unable to achieve the Millennium Development Goals.
