Spain, France: Convergence on G-20 Summit
France: Presidents of France, Nicolas Sarkozy, and Spain, Jose
Luis Rodriguez Zapatero, held talks marked by convergence on the future
G-20 Summit to be held in Pittsburgh and Copenhagen conference on
climate.
The Spanish President told the press that there is a positive feeling
of agreement between his country and France both in European policy as
international order and mentioned the economic crisis and climate
change.
There is a strong shared will of leadership to achieve a stronger
Europe, more united, working with more efficiency and speed, he added.
Sarkozy, for his part, said that France and Spain prepare for the
Pittsburgh, United States, scheduled for the end of September with the
same wish to build a new world and strict awareness regarding regulation
and bonds. He added that both countries will also work towards success,
as decided in Brazil, towards an International Conference on Climate
Change to be held in Copenhagen (Denmark) from December 7 to 18.
The French Head of State indicated support offered to Spain during
its presidency of the bloc beginning in January 1, 2010 and mentioned
that they spoke of priorities.
We have a policy of large convergence for a Europe that takes
initiatives and defends its values, he added.
