Estate workers get wage hike

Workers to get Rs. 405 daily :

A majority of the Plantation Trade Unions yesterday decided to suspend their involvement in the ongoing protest campaign as the estate owners agreed to increase the daily wage of the workers to Rs. 405.

The Government has spent over Rs. 10,000 million for economic and infrastructure development in the Matara district from 2006. A Pakistani investigation team will travel to Sri Lanka next week to probe reports that elements in the island were linked to the terrorist attack on the Sri Lankan cricket team in Lahore, Pakistani Interior Minister Rehman Malik said.
