President's next task, educational revolution

After eliminating terrorism President Mahinda Rajapaksa's next task will be to create an educational revolution through the school system to create a fully-fledged child, Secretary to the President Lalith Weerathunga said.

Weerathunga was addressing a meeting at the Sabaragamuwa Provincial Council Auditorium in Ratnapura recently.

The President, having completely wiped out terrorism from this soil will leave no room to raise its head once again, he said.

President Rajapaksa wants to see the emergence of a child rich not only in subject related matters but also in his affection towards his parents and country. He should also be armed with team spirit, he said.

This task can be performed only by principals and teachers. The President's affection towards children in the country is clearly endorsed by the letters he receives from schoolchildren, he said.

Sabaragamuwa Province Chief Minister Maheepala Herath said principals and educational authorities should work to realize the dream of the President in creating a new country.

SP Governor Janaka Priyantha Bandara, Chief Secretary P. Kodithuwakku, and Chief Ministerial Secretary H.P. Kularatne also spoke.
