HSBC - Mercantile 'D' Division cager champions

HSBC emerged champions in the 'D' Division Mercantile League Basketball Championship beating Hayleys PLC by 74 points to 65 in the final played at Otters Sports Club Basketball Courts.

HSBC was in the lead at half time by 35 points to 28.

Andrew Wijesuriya was the top scorer for the winning team with 31 points Rajitha Wihanage (13 points) and Robert Sundarasagara (12 points) also made useful contributions for HSBC. Thilan Pigera scored 18 points for Hayleys PLC and Sudath Silva got 15 and Ranil Ganewatta obtained 14 points.

Airport and Aviation S.S. emerged champions in the Mercantile 'E' Division League Basketball Championship defeating NDB Bank by 67 points to 59 in the final encounter played at the same venue.

At half time Airport and Aviation was in front by 30 points to 24. Indika Silva was the top scorer for the victorious team with 32 points while Susil Ugukumbura scored 19 points.

Ushan Wijesingha (20 points) Hasitha Samarasinghe (15 points) and Rajitha Silva (13 points) made valuable contributions for the NDB Bank.

Mercantile Services League Basketball tournament was conducted by Mercantile Services Basketball Association and sponsored by the Haton National Bank.
