Galle district Literary Festival
Galle district annual literary festival will be held on September 15
from 9 a.m. to 1.30 p.m. at Labuduwa Siri Dhamma MV (Galle).
The festival is organised by the Cultural Unit of the Galle District
Secretariat with Bope-Poddala Divisional Secretariat.
New steps for Sigiriya

The Sigiriya Cultural Triangle has taken action to build a new line
of steps to view the Western slopes of the Sigiriya Rock. This will
facilitate visitors to explore more areas of this historical rock. A
spokesman of the Cultural Triangle said the cave of the frescoes will be
opened soon. He said action has been taken to protect visitors from
hornet attacks.
Hashish haul seized

Police seized three kilograms of hashish valued around two and half
million rupees from a suspect in Kalpitiya on Thursday night.
Police spokesman Senior DIG Nimal Mediwake said a team of the Central
Vice Squad from Wellawatte nabbed a suspect in Kalpitiya along with
3.01kg of hashish. "The consignment was worth around Rs.2.5 million," he
added.
The suspect was arrested in Nathandiya Road, Kottaramulla junction
with the hashish in his possession.
He asserted that the suspect might have smuggled the hashish from
India via sea and was carrying out it repeatedly.
Seminar
A training seminar on "Sampling, Testing, Calculations and Statistics
in Chemical Analysis and Environment Management will be conducted at the
Institute of Chemistry, Rajagiriya on October 7 from 8 a.m. to 4.30 p.m.

Miyuru Kalpana
The students of Visharadha Rukshan Manamperi will present Miyuru
Kalpana, a cultural entertainment program at 5.30 p.m. on September 12
at the Basilica Auditorium, Ragama.
Anula Walk - 2009
A walk organized by the Old Girls' Association of Anula Vidyalaya,
Nugegoda to get funds for the school Gymnasium will be held on September
19 at 8.30 a.m. at the school premises. It will proceed to Delkanda
Junction via High Level Road and then come back to school via Old
Kesbewa Road. |
