Student registration issues resolved

The problematic situation that arose with regard to the registration of students in Universities of Colombo, Ruhuna and Jayewardenepura has now been resolved enabling students to gain university admissions soon, Higher Education Minister Prof. W.A. Wishwa Warnapala told Parliament yesterday.

The Higher Education Minster was responding to a special statement made by JVP Parliamentary Group Leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake. "We had to face a number of practical problems when students were enrolled to the universities in the North and East. Therefore, we increased the enrolments of students for universities in other provinces compared to universities in North and East," the Minister said.

He said a troublesome situation had arisen in Colombo and Jayewardenepura universities as students who were enrolled to these two universities refused to change their courses.
