to five years ago.

With peace being established more opportunities have been opened for
the mobile phone industry especially in the Northern and the Eastern
provinces, he said.
Sala Enterprises is the authorized distributor for Samsung mobile
phones in Sri Lanka.
Meanwhile, Sala Enterprises with Samsung Asia (Pvt) Ltd., yesterday
unveiled Samsung Jet and Omnia II, two of the latest phones for the
first time in Sri Lanka.
“We provide genuine products to all our customers with an assurance
of quality and service. When the gray market absorbs a bigger share of
the market our sales drop eventually. For this we need Government
enforcement since the gray market has become a real threat to the mobile
phone industry in Sri Lanka”, he said. He said, “With new technology
being introduced to the world by leading brands of mobile manufacturing
companies, as an average our customers change their mobile phones after
one or two years.
Most of the younger generation is keen on the latest technology that
is available in mobile phones and therefore sales increased. In Sri
Lanka, the Samsung brand has a market share of 10 percent and we target
a market share of 30 percent by the end of 2010, Wijewikrama said. “We
consider it a great honour to represent a global brand in this market,
and we are confident that our capabilities will complement the brands
business objectives resulting in a win-win relationship. Although we are
truly a local entrepreneurial business, we have always been in the
forefront introducing technological innovations to discerning
customers”, he said.
The Samsung Jet maximizes the user experience due to the speedy
processor and the ultra brilliant display. Omnia II delivers the total
package of features and fun. It comes fully loaded with an oversized
AMOLED Display, simple touch-optimized UI and an array of improved
multimedia features.
