UN: Strategies for Nuke disarmament

Mexico: UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon reaffirmed on Wednesday five proposed points to support the international coalition for nuclear disarmament.

Disarmament should improve security and be carefully verified and based on legal obligations, be visible to the public and anticipate potential threats by other weapons.

This group of measures is what Ban Ki Moon calls "Stop the Bomb," as he said during the inauguration of the 62nd Annual Conference of the UN Public Information Department and Non Governmental Organizations.

The UN Chief warned of global threats, not only including nuclear weapons, but also a ser of crisis in the fields of energy, food, economy and health due to the A(H1N1) flu virus, and called on members to join hands in fighting them because the nations by themselves will not be able to go out of this critical situation and first of all, peace must be secured.

There cannot be any development without peace, and vice versa, said Ban Ki Moon. Mexico, Prensa Latina
