Medical Faculty students released on personal bail

The two Medical Faculty students of Peradeniya University arrested recently by police on charges of allegedly assaulting two other students who belonged to a faculty's student group that was said to be standing for the cause of "non ragging" or "hazing" in the university, were yesterday released by Kandy Magistrate Sumudu Premachandra on personal bail of Rs.100,000 each.

The Chief Magistrate also set a cash bail of Rs.4,000 for them. He ordered the two students to appear before Courts on September 17.

Peradeniya Police are investigating the assault incident at the Peradeniya University under the supervision of OIC CI Naranpanawa.
