Nestomalt Marathons stage one on September 13

The Nestomalt Mini Marathons 2009, organized and conducted by Sri Lanka Athletic Association is due to commence with the first stage in Anuradhapura on September 05.

The other three stages are scheduled for September 13 in Ampara, September 19 in Kurunegala and September 26 in Galle. All the events are to started as mass starts commencing at 8.0a.m. on all stages. All participants are requested to be present at the venues by 6.0.a.m. for medical check ups and other requirements.

Each marathon events are categorised in to four groups Open event for men and women and for Boys and Girls over 15 years in their respective Districts.

The winners in the Open marathon will receive Trophies and cash prizes in the following

manner: Rs.10, 000/-, 7500/- and 5000/- in addition to medals and certificates. Meanwhile the runners who finish the race within the first ten are to receive a gift packs and certificates from Nestle Lanka Ltd.

The winners of the schools segment will also receive prizes ranging from Rs, 5000/-, 3000/- and 2000/- with trophies and certificates for the first three winners and the first ten competitors to complete the race will receive gift packs along with certificates.

In line with Nestles promise of providing power, Strength and Energy all day long, its association with marathons in Sri Lanka goes back to well over two decades. The participation for these marathons have been tremendous.
